5 to Compete for 2017 Queen, Princess
Five young women are competing for the chance to represent Mandan Rodeo Days as 2017 Miss Rodeo Mandan and Miss Rodeo Mandan Princess. The pageant runs July 2-4 with the winners being crowned at Dakota Centennial Park during the July 4 rodeo performance.
Taylor Zimprich, 20, recently completed her sophomore year at North Dakota State University where she is on the dean’s list. She is working toward a double major in equine and animal science and plans to work in the field of animal genetics. Her hobbies include reading, bead and leather crafts and traveling. Taylor belongs to the NDSU rodeo club where she competes in barrel racing, NDSU Saddle and Sirloin Club and the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Taylor is the daughter of Jim and Shelly Zimprich of Jessie.
Kylee Grabow, 17, will be a junior this fall at Hazen High School. Her hobbies include playing hockey and barrel racing. She is very involved in FFA where she is currently the president of her chapter and has earned her greenhand degree. She belongs to Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, 4-H and is the vice president of her student council. Upon graduation, Kylee plans to attend the University of North Dakota to study medicine. She is the daughter of Debra and Byron Grabow of Hazen.
Denyka Sauer, 9, will be in 4th
grade at Sunrise Elementary School in Bismarck this fall. Her hobbies include flying airplanes, camping and giving back to the community through Saddle Up for St. Jude and Hoofin’ It for a Cure. She is a member of Burleigh County 4-H and Bismarck Horse Club. Denyka is the daughter of Jason and Priscilla Sauer of Bismarck.
Sydney Jo Weinberger, 9, will be in the 4th
grade at Flasher Elementary School this fall. Her hobbies include competing in rodeos, gymnastics, going to the lake and doing arts and crafts. She is a member of the Mandan Horse and Saddle Club and the National Barrel Horse Association. Sydney is the daughter of Cody and Sonya Weinberger of Breien.
Emma Brewer, 10, will be in the 5th
grade at Stanley Elementary School in the fall. Her hobbies include babysitting, barrel racing jackpots, cheerleading, volleyball and rodeos. She is a member of Mountrailsmen 4-H club and Mountrailsmen Saddle Club. Emma is the daughter of Michael Brewer and Sarah Brewer of Stanley.
The Miss Rodeo Mandan Pageant begins with personal interviews on Sunday, July 2 and continues with a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. that day. Horsemanship competition is scheduled for 10 a.m. on July 3.
