Mandan Rodeo Days Expands, Adds Xtreme Bulls Event
The 2017 edition of Mandan Rodeo Days, presented by Dakota Community Bank & Trust, will bring even more action.
The celebration of our nation’s independence will start a day earlier with the addition of a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Xtreme Bulls event on Saturday, July 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Dakotah Centennial Park.
The Mandan event is part of the Xtreme Bulls Tour which showcases many of the PRCA’s top bull riders. Money won at Xtreme bulls events counts toward the PRCA’s world championship standings. Tickets are $20 for ages 6 and up while kids under six are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
“Bull riding is consistently one of the most popular events at our rodeo,” said Mandan Rodeo committee chairman Bruce Schirado. “This celebration has 137 years of history and we are excited to add the Xtreme Bulls Tour. What a great way to kick off this year’s rodeo.”
Xtreme Bulls in Mandan will feature talented PRCA bull riders and highly regarded bucking bulls from Dakota Rodeo Company’s Chad Berger of Mandan. The Mandan Rodeo Days committee is offering $20,000 prize money for the July 1 event. That, along with contestants’ entry fees, promises a lucrative payday for the winner.
After the night of bull riding, the fun continues with three days of award-winning PRCA rodeo, July 2-4 at 7:30 p.m. Mandan, North Dakota’s largest regular-season rodeo, continues to grow and improve. The 2016 edition was named PRCA Badlands Circuit Rodeo of the Year, earning the honor above all PRCA rodeos in North and South Dakota.
Rodeo week includes the Miss Rodeo Mandan pageant, the Remarkable Kids Rodeo, family night activities, charity fundraising for veterans’ causes, a salute to active military and veterans, the crowd-pleasing chuckwagon races and more at Dakotah Centennial Park.
Other activities in Mandan include downtown events such as the Art in the Park festival July 3-4, the big Independence Day Parade, street festival, road race, baseball games, community meals and much more.
